Our agency in bustling Carcassonne officially opened for business last month. We caught up Severine Jaulent, who manages the agency, to find out more about the fabulous town and area.
Where in Carcassonne is the agency located?
We’re located next to the Porte des Jacobins in the historic Bastide Saint Louis quarter which is overlooked by the magical Medieval City up on the hill. The bastide is full of lovely historic buildings, coffee shops and restaurants. It has a quadrangular shape which nestles between city walls, and at its heart is the central square which hosts a weekly market. It really is an idyllic place to work!
Why was it important for BVI to open an agency in Carcassonne?
Carcassonne is a thriving regional town and a tourist hotspot. The Bastide Saint Louis and the Medieval City attract around 5 million visitors each year!
BVI has years of experience in the area and we already have an established agency in nearby Limoux. Although only about 30 kms away, the variety of properties and clients across the area is very diverse. By opening our Carcassonne agency, we aim to offer the best possible service to vendors and buyers alike, as well as to provide our local team of agents with a quality setup and the support they need.
What do you personally love about the area, and why did you choose to live here?
We immediately fell in love with all that Carcassonne has to offer. It is a world famous town and a heritage site, and its Mediterranean weather guarantees mild winters and lovely warm summers. Carcassonne also has its own medium sized international airport and is close to Toulouse which offers flights around the world. We also love that it is only one hour drive from the sea or skiing in the mountains!
In Carcassonne’s immediate vicinity there are many other beautiful and very distinct areas to explore: the Black Mountain, with lakes and Cathar Castles, the warm Corbières with its rocky mountains, the Minervois and its vines and springs, the Limouxin, world famous for its Blanquette, and the lovely meandering Canal du Midi. This area is for lovers of nature, history, and warm weather.
